The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced October 12, 2020, as the date for the re-opening of public and private schools across the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Rumwashi Wonodikou and made available to Hanoky Media.
The State Governor regretted the long closure of schools and other sectors of the economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He noted that the State Government will leave no stone unturned towards the enforcement of the COVID-19 protocols during the resumption period of the schools.
The Governor also directed the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to meet stakeholders in the education sector towards harmonizing modalities for the re-opening of the schools.
His words: “I am pleased to announce Monday, October 12th, 2020 as the date for resumption of academic activities from the basic to tertiary levels”.
“Schools must ensure washing of hands at entry points, use of face masks, hand sanitizers as well as observing social distancing protocols and proper hygiene”.
The Governor continued: “Any Institution or school found wanting in these measures shall risk closure and sanctioning”.
The Governor further advised parents to take interest in the health of their children and wards by assisting schools and providing the basic requirements needed for their children in the fight against the pandemic.
