The Kaduna Catholic Provincial Bishops, comprising Kaduna, Sokoto, Zaria, Minna, Kafanchan, and Kontogora Arch Diocese have donated relief items to the victims of Kajuru bandit attack in Kaduna State.
The relief items, worth over 2.5 million naira, were donated to 276 households in communities comprising Karamai, Ungwan Gora, Ungwan Barde and Aku-Banono, all in Kajuru Local government area.
The items, comprising fertilizers, grains, items of clothing, among others, were presented on behalf of the provincial Bishops by Rev Fr. Joshua Achir, the Director, Development Peace Initiative. He said that the donation became necessary following the hardship the community members were facing after the attacks in the communities.
His words: “Kaduna Catholic Provincial Bishops deem it necessary to come to the aid of these people who lost their loved ones and their properties as a result of the attacks by unknown gunmen”.
“We feel fertilizer is one thing they will need, now that most of them have returned to their farms”, he added.
“Our major goal is to crush the hardship, pray for them and continue to support them as well as appeal to the authorities to intensify security, especially in the trouble areas”, he maintained.
In response to the kind gesture, the beneficiaries thanked the spiritual leaders for the gesture, describing it as Christ-like love. They however expressed their dissatisfaction over the incessant attacks on their communities.
“We thank our Fathers in the Lord for remembering us at this trying time, and it has never been easy for us since we were attacked, but God has been using many persons to give us hope”, one of the victims of the attack narrated.
