COVID-19: Ohaneze Ndi Igbo sends senior medics volunteers to assist C’River

The Ohaneze Ndi Igbo in Cross River State has delegated 14 senior medical practitioners to volunteer assistance to the state government in its efforts to remain covid19 free.

President of the association, Ugorji Nwabueze said it was in response to the state government’s request for more volunteers from spirited individuals and groups to assist in the implementation and enforcement of state Government’s Action Plan on COVID-19.

Nwabueze who is a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indegenes Affairs, said the 14 are yet the best hands in medical practice,  research, and health management.

“The team has the mandate to assist the State Government to sustain its current enviable National position of Covid-19 free status.

Some of them include:

  • Prof. C. Iroegbu, Virology & Genetic Ecology
  • Prof. E. Uttah (Parasitology & Environmental Biology)
  • Prof A.O.Emeribe ( Hematology & United Nations Rep) as well as
  • Prof. N. Osuchukwu (Community Health).

Others are: 

  • Prof A.A.Alaribe ( Parasitology, 
  • Dr Felix Akubuenyi, an Environmental Microbiology, 
  • Dr Mrs E Osuchukwu (PhD Nursing Science.


Three chief medical directors of Madonna Specialist hospital, Santa Maria hospital in Ogoja and Melrose hospital Ikom, Nze Dr. E. Idurukwe and HRM Igwe, Dr. E. Ilounu, and Dr. S. Ezigbo respectively.

The release called on the people to reflect them in daily prayers as they volunteer to offer selfless services to the State.
