The Government of Imo State has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Polymer Institute of Nigeria.
The State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma expressed his optimism on taking advantage of the Institute’s decision to make waste management a source of economic resources and job opportunities to people of the state.
Senator Uzodinma, while receiving the National President of Polymer Institute of Nigeria, Prof. Paul Mamza said his administration will work out strategies to see that the waste management in the state gains from the partnership.
He further stated his readiness to incorporate Polymer as a fresh course of study at the Imo State Polytechnic.
Speaking earlier, the National President of the institution, Prof. Paul Mamza said this collaboration will help improve the cleanliness of the state and making the wastes useful.
Prof. Mamza reiterated that the Institute has developed a far-reaching and elaborate proposal that will lead to the production of foams, paints, adhesives and fibre-reinforced polymers through the wastes.
The Institute presented 200 pieces of locally produced and branded face masks. The presentation was conducted by Engr. (Dr) Innocent Akuvue, Chairman Board of Directors, Polymer Institute of Nigeria.
