Open dialogue with IPOB, Ohanaeze Youths tell Buhari

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide yesterday told President Muhammadu Buhari to open dialogue with leaders of the south east region so as to resolve the lingering agitation by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other groups in the zone.

The group insisted that governors of the zone, traditional rulers and youth leaders should be enlisted among the discussants.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and the Secretary, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and was made available to Hanoky Media.

The statement read: “We are aware of the persistent protest of members of the Ingenious People of Biafra, and other groups in the southeast zone.

“The worries of these groups are cases of political unbalance against Ndigbo in the nation’s affairs and the only way to end it is to address those issues.

“And that is why we members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide wish to inform President Muhammadu Buhari that there is need to open dialogue with leaders of the south east over the persistent agitations in the zone.

“And we suggest that the meeting which would also help to shape the nation ahead of 2023 elections would also address the power shift in Aso-Rock.

“We also suggest that Igbo Governors and Traditional Rulers, not the Alhaji Atiku’s sponsored team but those recognized by the zone including the youth leaders in the area should be in attendance”, the statement stated.
