Osun State Government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has commenced the rebuilding of the Atakumosa Central Market in Adeti, Ilesha.
The market, which had about 4,000 shops was recently razed down by fire, with properties worth billions of naira destroyed.
However, the source of the fire outbreak was not known but it was suspected to have been caused by an electric upsurge.
The State Governor, Alh Gboyega Oyetola who addressed the traders at the event, said that rebuilding of the market would cost more than 200 million naira.
He noted that 250 stalls would be added, even as the project is targeted to be completed this year.
He explained that the plan to rebuild the market was part of his campaign promises in delivering good governance to the people of the state.
Also, the General Manager, Osun CSDP, Mrs Funmi Abokede appraised the action of the state government in collaboration with the World Bank for restoring the hope of the traders.
She reiterated that the project will go a long way in supporting, touching the lives of the traders, and enhancing the societal growth of the state.
At the event, cheques of 10 million niara were given to some vulnerable persons like Mr. Kareem Adekunle and Mrs Adelaide Funke.
