Umahi commissions general hospital for COVID-19 cases

In a bid to arrest the spread of coronavirus, the Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Umahi has commissioned Elinwovu General Hospital.

The hospital has 150 bed capacity and was recently renovated to add to the existing treatment centres of patients with COVID-19.

This came at the time when the state has hit 182 positive cases with no death record.

Also, 86 confirmed cases have been treated and discharged in the state.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the Hospital, Umahi directed that similar renovation work should be carried out immediatly at both Ikwo and Onicha General Hospitals. 

He explained that the increase in the numbers of cases of Coronavirus in the state was because the State was handling the testing of the virus.

His words: “the Center is fully equipped with modern equipment according to NCDC standard and specifications to treat coronavirus patients”, he said.

Earlier, the SSA to the Governor on Human Capital Development Mrs. Ann Aligwe said that the project took ten days before completion as the Hospital was now ready for use.
