The Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma has been commended by some stakeholders in the state for signing the 2020 revised budget of 108 billion naira into law.
The revised budget indicates a reduction of 89 billion naira from the previous budget which was signed by the former governor of the state for the same 2020 fiscal year.
The revised budget was tagged: “Budget of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery”.
Speaking to newsmen at the Government House Owerri, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Nnamdi Anyahe said that the governor is a leader with a great vision to the development the state.
He explained that the governor made a downward review to accommodate the present economic situation caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Barr. Anyahe however called on Imo state citizens to continually support the present administration of the state.
Also, the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Chuks Chukuemeka explained that the downward review of the 2020 budget shows the realistic mindset of the present administration.
He further pleaded with the people of the state to be patient with the present administration.
“We are fortunate we have a governor who is a credible manager”, he added.
It is to be recalled that the past administration of Chief Emeka Ihedioha signed into law a budget of N197 billion for the year 2020 before the outbreak of the coronavirus.
