Accident claims 2 lives in Osogbo

On Monday morning, two men lost their lives in an auto accident that involved a Mack truck (without number plates), a Honda Element (with number plates GGG143AJ) and a Bajaj motorcycle (with number plates SMK124QR) along Osogbo-Obokun road in Osun State.

The accident which occurred at about 1:50 PM led to a gridlock on the road. Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps battled to clear the scene and restore the free flow of traffic in the area.

According to sources, the truck’s brake system had failed and subsequently rammed into an oncoming vehicle and a commercial motorcyclist, killing two persons instantly.

The Truck driver, who would have been killed by an angry mob, was saved by the timely arrival of officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

Confirming the incident, the Sector Public Education Officer, Agnes Ogungbemi, said the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue in the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

According to Ogungbemi, “The accident must have been caused by brake failure. Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps moved in immediately after the crash occurred and cleared the scene”.

“Two persons lost their lives and their corpses have been deposited at the morgue unit of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo”,she explained.
