About 34 drums of petroleum products have been seized by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kebbi State Command.
The products were seized from smugglers in the waterways of Suru Local Government Area.
This was disclosed by the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Suleiman Ibrahim Madara while speaking to Newsmen in his office in Birnin Kebbi.
His words, “Efforts by the Commandant General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammad, to curb the activities of vandals in the country necessitated the operation which resulted in the seizure of the petroleum products.”
He added that officers and men of NSCDC came across the smugglers in the waterways of the Suru river while they were illegally transporting the petroleum products to neighbouring countries.
“On sighting the officers, the smugglers abandoned the commodity and took to their heels. This resulted in the interception of the commodity.” Suleiman Ibrahim said.
