Leeds United will play Premier League (first division) football for the first time in 16 years when the 2020/2021 season gets on the way.
Leeds were unable to secure promotion last season despite being favourites as well as spending large chunks of last season in and around the playoff spot, they, however, failed to ensure promotion, crashing out of the playoff to Frank Lampard’s Derby County.
After waiting for 16 years, following relegation in 2004, Leeds have finally clinched promotion with two games to spare, and they could still finish the season as the champions of the Championship.
Having sailed promotion, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will look to win the League Championship for the 7th time in the club’s history.
Leeds promotion came after 2nd placed West Bromwich Albion failed to win away at relegation strugglers Huddersfield.
After their promotion became guaranteed, Leeds United official twitter account tweeted, ” we are back {in the} @PremierLeague.” Leeds United have had a magnificent season, a win in one of their next two games will be their joint-most wins during a season in the Club’s history.
Remarkably, the team has won 12 away games so far this season, and a win away at Derby on Sunday will be the club’s highest tally of away wins in one season.
