A philanthropist, Barrister Hassan Bello, yesterday donated relief materials worth millions of naira to victims of flood disaster across Kebbi State.

Items donated include 900 bags of cement, 30 bundles of roofing sheet (zinc), 30 cartons of nails, 300 pieces of wrapper, 40 bags of assorted grains and some school bags among others.

The relief items were presented to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) by the representative of the donor, Halima Dikko, who also doubles as the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Higher Education.

According to Dikko,  Barrister Hassan Bello, who sympathized with the victims of the flood disaster, made the donation to assist the victims in recuperating from the effects of the disaster.

His words, “The donation is meant to cushion the effect of the disaster. The relief package is part of Barrister Hassan Bello’s personal donation to complement the state government’s efforts in assisting the victims of the recent flood disaster that has devastated the state.”

Dikko also stated that the donor has called on other well-meaning individuals to also contribute their quota towards addressing the plight of the less privileged in the state. He said such a move would make the lives of the less privileged better.

He further charged SEMA to ensure judicious distribution of the relief materials to the victims.

Barrister Hassan Bello, the donor, is an indigene of Kebbi State and the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Shippers Council.
