The Kebbi State House of Assembly has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to immediately halt the activities of the Agricultural Transformation Support Programme (ATSP) in the state.
The directive is sequel to the recent issues between farmers in Suru Local Government Area and officials of the programme.
The decision to suspend the programme was reached after an emergency meeting between members of the State House of Assembly and officials of the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development headed by the Permanent Secretary, Joel Aiki.
According to the Speaker, Hon. Abdulmumini Kamba, “the House will set up a special committee to properly investigate and ascertain the problem that exists between the two parties.”
Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Joel Aiki who is also the coordinator of the programme assured the House of his committee’s support and cooperation during the investigation.
