The Democratic Support Group (DSG) has pleaded with the Federal Government to give a fair hearing in the on-going trial of the former Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu. This, they said, will be instrumental in the fishing out corrupt leaders who have looted public funds for due prosecution.
The Chairman of the group, Malam Habu Adamu, made this call in Kano on Tuesday.
He stressed that Magu’s trial would introduce a channel that will help to expose corrupt officers in the system who when prosecuted will serve as a lesson to others.
His words: “Nobody is above the law, especially when Nigerian leaders are swallowing public funds in the guise of earnings”.
Adamu also advised the embattled former EFCC boss to expose corrupt Nigerian citizens who were under his watch before he was suspended from office, lamenting that the on-going trial has shown that Nigeria’s fight against corruption is gaining success.
