Work is yet to resume at the proposed Umueri Anambra state cargo airport site which was bid to commence in 2019 by the State governor, Willie Obiano.
Obiano had on November 2019 assured that construction work at the site would commerce. He added that his administration would complete the project in less than 18 months, but his assurance came four years after the project was flagged off.
Addressing Journalists who were on a fact-finding mission, the state Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor confirmed the development.
His words: “Nothing is happening at the site, if that is the reason you came to my office”, he noted.
It could be recalled that the state government early this year appropriated over N6 billion for the project in her 2020 budget.
Mr. Ifejiofor while on duty in the area had on Tuesday denied access to journalists who visited for purpose of evaluating progress at the site.
